Article-Processing Charge (APC)

An article-processing charge (APC) is levied to cover the cost of the publication process, including peer-reviewing, editing, publishing, maintaining and archiving, and allows immediate access to the full text versions of the articles.

The standard APC for TMH is £705/$1105/€900 for each article accepted for publication.

If the corresponding author's institution is a BioMed Central Member, the cost of the article-processing charge is covered by the membership, and no further charge is payable. In the case of authors whose institutions are Supporter Members, however, a discounted article-processing charge is payable by the author. We routinely waive charges for authors from low-income countries. For other countries, article-processing charge waivers or discounts are granted on a case-by-case basis to authors with insufficient funds. Authors publishing in TMH can request a discount on the journal’s article-processing charge (APC) that is payable upon editorial acceptance of articles. The discount must be requested during the article submission process, by entering a code that can be obtained from the JSTM office. The discounted APC is €450 for Society members (Regular, Postdoctoral and Student membership holders), and €700 for other authors.
