- To prescribe the qualifications and selection procedure for candidates for special membership as stipulated in Article 5, Clause 7 of the Constitution of the Japanese Society of Tropical Medicine.
- Candidates to be nominated as Members-at-Large must have made a significant contribution to the development of the Society.
- When a candidate is to be nominated as a Member-at-Large, a nomination form by a Councilor shall be submitted to the President.
- The Board of Directors shall select the Members-at-Large and the Board of Councilors shall approve them.
- The Board of Directors shall determine separately how these bylaws shall be administered.
- Amendments to these bylaws shall be made by the Board of Directors and approved by the Board of Councilors.
Supplementary provision.
- These bylaws shall come into force on 15 October 2004.
- Amendments to these bylaws shall come into force as on 1 January 2010.
- Amendments to these bylaws shall come into force on 9 October 2022.
Matters of arrangement for the operation of the ‘Bylaws for the selection of special members’ in accordance with Section 5 (decided by the Board of Directors on 21 October 2009).
- Preference for Special Members shall be given to representatives of individuals or organizations related to tropical medicine from other countries who have made outstanding contributions or exchanges with the Japanese Society of Tropical Medicine.
