Detailed Regulations for Honorary Member Selection
prescribes the qualifications and selection procedure for candidates for Honorary Membership as stipulated in Article 5, Clause 6 of the Constitution of the Japanese Society of Tropical Medicine.
Candidates to be nominated as Honorary Members must have made outstanding achievements in the field of tropical medicine and have made significant contributions to the development of the Society.
Candidates for Honorary Membership shall meet the following conditions 1 and 2, or 3.
a history of activity A total of at least 15 years of teaching, research or other activities in the field of tropical medicine
contribution to the Society (must fulfil one of the following)
a. have served as President (or General Secretary)
b. have served as President (or President)
c. having served at least two terms as director (or secretary)
members of the Society who have made particularly outstanding achievements in the field of tropical medicine, notwithstanding conditions 1 and 2 above
the age of the person to be nominated as an Honorary Member shall, in principle, be 70 years or older
when nominating an Honorary Member, a nomination form jointly signed by three or more Councilors shall be submitted to the President at least one month prior to the annual meeting of the Board of Councilors.
the selection of Honorary Members shall be made by the Board of Directors and approved by the Board of Councilors.
The Board of Directors shall determine separately how these bylaws are to be administered. 8. Amendments to these bylaws shall be made by the Board of Directors and approved by the Board of Councilors.
These bylaws shall come into force as from 1 January 1997.
Supplementary provisions.
Amendments to these bylaws shall come into force as on 1 January 2004.
Amendments to these bylaws shall come into force as on 1 January 2010. 3.
The amendments to these bylaws shall enter into force on 9 November 2019.
the amendments to these bylaws shall enter into force on 9 October 2022.
