(Purpose)
Article 1. These rules shall specify the composition of the Editorial Board and the rules for the review of papers submitted to the journal.
(Chairperson of the Editorial Board)
Article 2. The Chairman of the Editorial Board shall be appointed by the President.
2.The Editorial Board Chairman shall have the final responsibility for editing the Journal and reviewing papers with the advice of the Editorial Board Member (1) appointed by the Board of Directors of the Japan Society of Tropical Medicine.
3.The Editor-in-Chief is not prevented from holding a concurrent post with the Director in charge of editing.
4. The term of office of the chairperson of the editorial board is based on three terms of six years but may be extended if necessary.
(Editorial Board Members)
Article 2. Experts in various fields of tropical medicine shall be elected.
2.The Editorial Board Chairman, with the advice of the Director in charge, selects and dismisses the members of the Editorial Board, which is then decided by the Board of Directors. 3. The term of office of the Editorial Board members shall be three years, but members elected during their term of office shall serve for the remainder of the term of office of the other members.
4. the editorial board members shall cooperate in the review of articles and respond to enquiries about the editorial and publication policy of the journal. They also review submitted papers and select reviewers at the request of the Editor-in-Chief.
(Editorial Advisers)
Article 4. The Editorial Advisers shall consist of prominent tropical medicine researchers from Japan and abroad, who shall provide guidance and advice on the editing of the Journal.
2. The Editorial Adviser shall be selected and dismissed by the Chairman of the Editorial Board with the advice of the Director in charge, and shall be decided by the Board of Directors. 3. The term of office of the Editorial Advisor is six years, but an Advisor elected in the middle of his/her term will serve for the remainder of the term of the other Advisor.
(Editorial Board)
Article 5. The Editorial Board shall be chaired by the Editor-in-Chief and shall consist of the Deputy Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board members, and shall in principle meet on the occasion of the Annual Conference. Extraordinary meetings of the Editorial Board shall be held as necessary.
2. The Deputy Editor-in-Chief is appointed by the Editor-in-Chief from the members of the Editorial Board. The Deputy Editor-in-Chief shall assist the Editor-in-Chief and act for the Editor-in-Chief in his/her absence or disability.
3. The Editorial Board supervises and discusses the editorial and publication policy of the journal.
(Review rules)
Article 6. Contributors shall submit papers for publication in compliance with the submission rules. 2.
The Editorial Board shall process papers in accordance with the prescribed submission review procedure.
(Supplementary provisions)
Article 7. If any doubt arises concerning the interpretation and application of these rules, the Editorial Board shall consult with the Board of Directors after deliberation.
2. Amendments to these Rules shall be approved by the Board of Councilors after discussion by the Board of Directors.
Supplementary provisions
- These regulations shall come into effect from the time when the adoption of the J-STAGE submission review system is officially approved.
- The amendments to these Bylaws, which were approved by the Board of Councilors on 22 October 2009 after a discussion by the Board of Directors on 21 October 2009, shall come into effect from 1 January 2010.

- amendments to these bylaws were discussed by the Board of Directors on 23 June 2021 and approved by the Board of Councilors on 4 November 2021, and shall enter into force on 4 November 2021.
