Detailed Regulations for the Election of Councilors
Article 13, Clause 2 of the Constitution of the Japanese Society of Tropical Medicine defines the qualifications and the method of election of Councilors.
Candidates for Councilors must be regular members of the Society and fulfil one or more of the following criteria: 1.
Have been a member of the Society for a total of at least five years of active membership
Hold a leadership position in tropical medicine and related fields at a university, research institute or medical institution.
The nomination form for a candidate for Councilor shall be submitted to the President at least one month before the annual meeting of the Board of Councilors, together with a letter of recommendation jointly signed by two or more members, including a Councilor, a short CV and a list of achievements.
The selection of candidates for Trustees shall be made by the Board of Directors and approved by the Board of Councilors.
Amendments to these bylaws shall be made by the Board of Directors and approved by the Board of Councilors.
Supplementary provisions.
Amendments to these bylaws shall come into force as on 1 January 2010.
Amendments to these bylaws shall come into force on 1 January 2011.

The amendments to these bylaws shall enter into force on 9 October 2022.
